ERASysBio Summer School – Data Management for Systems Biology II

26th – 30th July 2009 Universidad de Verano de Adeje, Tenerife, Spain

The second summer school Data Management for Systems Biology II aimed to bridge the gap between the two communities, giving modellers experience in experimental data interpretation and experimentalists experience in constructing and testing models from data.

This summer school had a series of parallel practical sessions, lectures and discussions groups on the topics below. For more details please view the Programme 2009.

Experimental Data Management

1. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the laboratory;
2. conceptual modelling of wet lab data;
3. identifying and interpreting data and parameters for modelling;
4. controlled vocabularies and ontologies for data standardisation.

Handling Data for Modelling

1. An introduction to modelling for biologists;
2. writing SOPs for models – where to start;
3. high level modelling - Using available tools for simulation, for beginners and for advanced users;
4. model annotation.
